This mural has kept my interest every since I was a kid. I first encountered this mural when I went on a class trip that involved students to observe murals in Philadelphia. It is located near center city Philadelphia. The picture showcases many woman who have lived in different time periods. The emotion that it evokes in me is perseverance. It merits the term "art," because it is a painting. http://dguides.com/philadelphia/features/philly-murals/

Journal#1
English is my favorite subject because I strive to become a better writer and analyst. I enjoy writing because it can be therapeutic for me. As a writer my main goal is to obtain and hold the attention of my audience. One of my strengths as a writer is that my writings never lose focus on the topic at hand. Another strength is that I can write a thesis very easily. I have certain weaknesses that get in the way of my full potential as a writer. One weakness that I have as a writer is introducing a topic. Another weakness of mine is transitional from paragraph to paragraph. I want to improve my introductions as well my conclusions. I could improve my introductions and conclusions by reading more books and articles. While doing so, I could observe how the writer(s) use certain techniques to start and end there articles. I believe this course will help me improve as a writer because it has more of an expressive side to it than general English 15 classes.
